About us

In the middle of 2008, based on production unit of Geos, a separate division with the aim to penetrate the production and sales market of gravestone industry, was established.

As quite an experienced producer of concrete products, the first item was made in this industry – a concrete socket for a granite grave slab. Sale of these and similar products was directed to wholesale buyers and to the companies involved in the industry.  In 2009, in collaboration with one of our customers, we worked out a unique product in its own way - a concrete grave boundary in Baroque style.  By uniqueness we mean that the shape of the boundary profile was very sophisticated but the price level of this product was on the same level of standard products at our competitors. It was really complicated to be copied by the other producers as the moulds used were assembled from foldable composite details. Appropriate marketing as well as the advantages of our products led us fast to the market. During the same year we worked out more than twenty different products made out of decorative, polished or exposed aggregate concrete.

As to product development, the major impact on variety was made by our wholesale buyers. By the end of 2009, we reached the leading position among the companies producing concrete products for graveyards. To be able to offer the whole range of goods needed in cemeteries ,  a decision to procure granite products was made at the end of 2009. In March 2010 two containers with granite products were received from China. Due to that we could complement our product range with granite tombs, boundaries, vases and other accessories.

In 2010 we opened a showroom for selling the cemetery goods and services in Tallinn city centre. At that time the product range exceeded 100 items.  This year we have compiled a new catalogue based ordering system that has no counterpart in Estonia.  Furthermore, a rise in sales was supported by customer service which was taken into a new level.

In the beginning of 2011, our own workshop was established where the epitaphs, portraits and 3D drawings are engraved in the granite gravestones. In spring 2011, two more showrooms were opened in Jõhvi and Narva, meant for direct sales to private persons.  Thanks to annual sales of these two showrooms we achieved a market share of 40% in retail market. In 2011 we executed more than 800 complex orders. In the beginning of 2011 our management decided to reduce retail sale and increase wholesale. The showrooms in Narva and Tallinn were given on franchise to other companies. The showroom of the same kind was opened in Tartu. At the same time a department responsible for wholesale all over Estonia was established. This enabled us to focus on expanding the production of granite and concrete products and consequently increase the sales.  In addition to that, new up-to date equipment was bought for granite treatment: an automatic saw with 1600mm cutting blade for cutting the granite blocks into slabs and automatic polishing machine for treating the surface of granite panels.

Working in one shift, the output of stone processing plant was up to 75m²/month by the end of 2012. The same year we started to import black, red and grey granite blocks from Swedish quarries. We have concluded the contracts with the land owners for carrying out the fieldstones in the neighborhood of the factory. Processing the Estonian fieldstones gave us an opportunity to bring to the market red and grey granite which has an interesting structure but lower price compared to granite bought from quarries.

In 2012 a decision was made to start offering our products on Swedish and Finnish market. For this purpose two export units were established.  In the autumn of 2012 a conveyor system was implemented and that enabled us with the same working force to increase the output 2-3 times and to lower the prices. Another new technology implemented involves the possibility to integrate two materials - granite and concrete.  This technology is mainly used for the production of grave boundaries. The price of the product turned out to be 20-25% lower compared to the price of the boundaries made of granite only.

In 2013 the cutting system will be modernized – a 2000mm cutting blade will be installed and this will make a stone processing plant more efficient. In addition, three more devices are going to be installed: a polishing machine for treating the slab ends as well as surfaces of complicated shape and small size; a profile saw for cutting in complex shapes and openings; a panel saw with 700mm saw blade. These machines make it possible to increase the production and broaden the assortment. And last but not least, we are convinced that we are going to continue enhancing our production capacity.

Many of our collaboration partners are of the opinion that Geos with its high quality goods, appropriate prices as well as continuously expanding product range is a trustworthy supplier.

Collaborating with us is the only way to make sure of it.
